The Gold and Jewellery India International Exhibition 2009 held at Chennai Trade Centre from February 8 to 12, 2009 has turned out to be a super success for all exhibitors and visitors as well as to the jewellery trade in general.
The B2B trade fair jointly organized by Madras Jewellery and Diamond Merchants Association and UBM India saw the participation of 6155 attendees from all over India as well as from other countries such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore , Sri Lanka United Kingdom, Malaysia and South Africa .
Record number of visitors thronged the Chennai Trade Centre on the three days and almost all the exhibitors have been able to showcase their products and generate business contacts with local as well as visitors from across south India.
The credit for the great success of the event goes to MJDMA who, along with UBM
had organized
several road shows throughout south India to market the GJIIE 2009.
Says the incumbent
President of MJDMA, Mr. Babu Emmanuel, “When the event was first held five years ago, many manufacturers were reluctant to participate. After the success of subsequent shows, they are very happy and now, participate in exhibitions all over the country, every year.”
Under the Chairmanship of Mr. Udaykumar Vummidi, the GJIIE 2009 has proved beyond doubt that it is the right platform for jewelers from all over India and abroad to do business with the trade. Says Udaykumar, “Normally it is impossible for a manufacturer to meet all retailers or vice versa. GJIIE is a win-win one-stop shop for the two hands of the industry to meet and do business.”
Mr Udaykumar will pass on the mantle of Chairmanship to Mr. Yogesh Shah who will spearhead the next edition of GJIIE 2010. The next year's B2B trade show will be held at Chennai Trade Centre from January 23 to 25.
Already many of this year's exhibitors have confirmed their participation for 2010. In fact, over 80% of GJIIE 2009 exhibitors have already rebooked to participate in next years event.
“This is a very encouraging sign for the Jewllery trade at large. For us as organizers, it gives us the confidence to go ahead with more of such shows in the future. MJDMA and UBM met on a common ground and found that absolute synergy. MJDMA's local strengths and relationship and UBM's professional expertise and international network form a natural partnership to take GJIIE to the next level,” says Mr. M. Gandhi , Managing Director, UBM India. |
